Key Responsibilities

  • Execute a diverse range of technical functions across mechanical and electrical engineering to support the design and development of automation systems. This includes crafting innovative and detailed proposals tailored to potential clients.

Specific Duties

  • Oversee the conceptualization, pricing, and creation of detailed technical proposals for various automation projects and equipment.
  • Engage with engineering management for projects with significant technical complexity to ensure accurate pricing and layout.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technical teams to assist in the design and development of products and systems, ensuring alignment with customer specifications.
  • Incorporate third-party vendors and suppliers into the quoting process as necessary.
  • Travel to client sites to support project or product development, adhering to engineering design specifications and standards.
  • Deliver sales presentations to customer representatives when required.
  • Prepare comprehensive estimates of time, quantities, labor, and material costs for areas such as product design, testing, and equipment installations.
  • Gather and compile essential technical information and customer specifications from engineering and sales & marketing to create detailed proposals.
  • Draft proposals in clear, concise language, organizing and revising content for clarity and effectiveness.
  • Ensure timely delivery of proposals to clients, utilizing the most efficient communication methods.
  • May undertake special projects to support engineering and sales & marketing initiatives as needed.
  • Clearly define the scope of work in proposals to facilitate project management and execution.
  • Utilize Computer Aided Design software and spreadsheets extensively in daily tasks.
  • Maintain the highest ethical standards in all business activities, in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and procedures.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in mechanical design, engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in mechanical design engineering, with a solid understanding of electrical design within an automation context.
  • Proficient knowledge of robotics, machine controls, and manufacturing processes, with a commitment to staying updated on cutting-edge technology.
  • Familiarity with computerized word processing, presentation software, and spreadsheets, particularly MS Office.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar design software.
  • Ability to communicate ideas, concepts, and pricing information clearly and effectively to technical audiences.
