Cardiac Catheterization Nurse

The Heart Investigation Unit at Hamilton Health Sciences is seeking a skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our team. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide high-quality nursing care to patients in collaboration with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Provide nursing care to patients in the cardiac catheterization lab and reception/recovery area
- Collaborate with Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care
- Participate in continued education and completion of certifications associated with nursing skills
- Complete learning plans to achieve goals and maintain certifications
- Work in a fast-paced environment with moderately complex care requirements
- Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse
- Current certificates or current community college studies in asepsis, wound care, airway management, complex wound care, physical assessment, urinary catheterization, administering enteral feeds, medication administration, transcribing physician orders, and ECG interpretation
- Current CPO completion or equivalent (in the last 2 years) including ECG interpretation and pacemaker interpretation
- Documented completion of a recognized IV administration and IV Management, Venipuncture, and Blood and Blood Products Administration course
- Current CPR Certificate
- Recent 2 years experience in the last 5 years in acute medical/surgical and cardiology
- Demonstrated ability to function in working with an interdisciplinary team, including nursing collaboration with RN and other members of the healthcare team
- Demonstrated ability to function in environments that are fast-paced and have moderately complex care requirements
- Demonstrated ability to communicate (written and verbal) effectively with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team
- Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work in response to patient needs
- Demonstrated knowledge of transfers and lifts protocols/practices
