About the Role

The Communications & Marketing Manager, Québec will play a pivotal role in implementing effective communications and marketing strategies to support advocacy for francophone songwriters, composers, and music publishers. This position requires a strategic leader who can develop and execute comprehensive communications campaigns to promote the value of music rights and foster strong relationships with music industry and government stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement communications and marketing strategies that align with SOCAN's overall organizational goals and objectives, with a focus on the Québec market.
  • Oversee the creation of content for various channels, including social media, websites, blogs, and newsletters, ensuring consistent messaging and visual identity across all platforms.
  • Protect and enhance the organization's brand reputation by developing and managing annual budgets for Québec communications programming.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with the media, ensuring effective communication of messages to the public.
  • Write research-based, data-driven content to promote SOCAN's reputation as a leading Canadian collective management organization representing francophone and anglophone music creators and publishers.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary school degree or certification in communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in communication, marketing, industry relations, or public relations roles, with a minimum of 3 years of intermediate experience.
  • Bilingual – excellent written and spoken French and English, with French as a first language mandatory.
  • Deep knowledge of the Québec music sector and a passion for music and culture, with a strong understanding of the social value of music.
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and spoken, with exceptional attention to detail and proficiency in identifying and utilizing different communication channels.
