Role Summary
What is the opportunity?
As the Senior Finance Manager focusing on BFS and P&CB Performance Management, you will deliver financial insights and strategic guidance for designated client segments. This role involves close collaboration with the Canadian Banking strategy teams to develop business models that support various industry sectors, segments, and strategic initiatives, along with preparing presentations for BFS senior management as necessary.
The Senior Manager will oversee direct Non-Interest Expense (NIE) actuals and forecasts, while also supporting efficiency management initiatives. You will enhance the transparency of indirect costs and provide direction to business leaders. Additionally, you will develop and refine product and segment-level cost allocation methodologies to ensure accurate assessment of segment profitability for management discussions and strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely financial analysis and reporting (revenue, expenses, and balance sheet) while effectively communicating with business segment partners.
- Create shadow financial reports for client segments not aligned with the transit hierarchy.
- Lead proactive financial oversight of expenses, including forecasting, planning, and ongoing decision support and financial analysis for all active initiatives.
- Conduct vertical industry sector analysis for the overall Business Financial Services and by client segment for management discussions and business reviews.
- Report and track HBCA NIE separately, including synergies against commitments.
- Validate NIE savings identified in PARs and QTP memos by collaborating with other financial advisors as necessary.
- Facilitate or develop financial models for strategic initiatives, providing valuable insights and reviewing models and assumptions for accuracy as required.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cost allocation models to guide management in interpreting product profitability and related driver information to support strategic decisions.
- Enhance the TPR database in collaboration with the DNA team and maintain it for various ad-hoc analyses.
Qualifications for Success
Essential Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant finance and industry experience, with a strong understanding of RBC's planning, reporting, and forecasting processes.
- In-depth knowledge of performance drivers and outcome measures for business products, RBC, and the financial sector.
- A cross-enterprise perspective.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- A commitment to continuous improvement.
- Creative, innovative, proactive, and strategic business acumen.
- Advanced financial modeling capabilities (i.e., strong Excel skills).
- Strong technical proficiency (i.e., Tableau database management).
