About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at EXP. As a key member of our Mechanical & Electrical Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical building systems for various projects in the Atlantic region and across Canada.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed drawings, specifications, and reports for mechanical building systems
  • Develop layouts and designs for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, fire protection systems, plumbing, and drainage systems
  • Create project-specific details to clarify project scope and assist with interference coordination between building systems
  • Prepare calculations to size ductwork, gas, HVAC, piping, plumbing, and drainage systems
  • Coordinate with project team members to review equipment and ensure a complete and correct design
  • Respond to internal and external communication regarding project or design status
  • Conduct facility condition assessments and feasibility studies
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with 6+ years of relevant buildings and industrial experience
  • Background in preparation of construction documents, including specifications and cost estimates
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng) licensed with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick (APEGNB), or eligible for immediate registration
  • A solid understanding of mechanical systems design, construction, project, and budget management
  • Knowledge of national building code, ASHRAE, CSA, and NFPA standards
  • REVIT/BIM proficiency is considered a strong asset
  • Able to work in a deadline-driven environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products
