The role of a Grounds Maintenance Technician involves performing essential tasks to ensure the upkeep of outdoor spaces. This position is critical in maintaining the aesthetic and functional quality of public and private areas.

Qualifications
  • Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required.
  • Experience: 1 to 2 years in a similar role.
Work Environment
  • Cold and refrigerated conditions.
  • Exposure to dusty, hot, and noisy environments.
  • Work is primarily outdoors in wet or damp conditions.
Work Setting
  • Engagement with private contractors.
  • Positions available in rural areas and various locations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and clean sidewalks, streets, roads, and public grounds.
  • Apply sand or salt on sidewalks for snow and ice management.
  • Utilize jackhammers and drills for pavement maintenance.
  • Support skilled tradespersons in various tasks.
  • Clear debris and snow from streets and sidewalks, loading materials into carts or trucks.
Transportation Requirements
  • Must have own transportation.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to bend, crouch, and kneel.
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking is required.
  • Physically demanding tasks and repetitive actions.
