Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Health Unit Support Clerk to join the Support Services-Admin team at North Shore Community Health in North Vancouver, BC. As a Health Unit Support Clerk, you will provide administrative support to the community health programs/centres/clinics by maintaining inventories of medical/surgical, biological supplies and harm reduction resources, setting up and dismantling clinic areas, cleaning and disinfecting equipment, and assembling and preparing education packages for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to community health programs/centres/clinics
  • Maintain inventories of medical/surgical, biological supplies and harm reduction resources
  • Set up and dismantle clinic areas
  • Clean and disinfect equipment
  • Assemble and prepare education packages for clients
  • Perform a variety of administrative support functions such as word processing, data entry, filing, typing reports and documents from notes for all programs
  • Perform switchboard & reception duties and answers general inquiries relating to Community Health programs

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent, and Office Administration Certificate and one (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Valid BC Drivers License. Local area travel requires use of personal vehicle

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of healthcare equipment
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques and procedures
  • Knowledge of health care facilities/clinics practices and procedures
  • Ability to operate related equipment and computer software programs
  • Ability to keyboard 5,000 strokes per hour
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public and team members
  • Ability to deal tactfully with coworkers and clients
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
