Job Summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Health Unit Support Clerk to join the Support Services-Admin team at North Shore Community Health in North Vancouver, BC, and supporting West Vancouver Centres.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support community health programs/centres/clinics by maintaining inventories of medical/surgical, biological supplies, and harm reduction resources.
  • Set up and dismantle clinic areas, clean and disinfect equipment, and assemble education packages for clients.
  • Perform administrative support functions, including word processing, data entry, filing, and typing reports and documents.
  • Provide switchboard and reception duties, answering general inquiries related to Community Health programs.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Grade 12 or equivalent, and Office Administration Certificate, and one (1) year recent related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Drivers License, with local area travel requiring the use of a personal vehicle.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of healthcare equipment, sterilization techniques, and health care facilities/clinics practices and procedures.
  • Ability to operate related equipment and computer software programs, keyboard 5,000 strokes per hour.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain satisfactory working relationships with the public and team members, deal tactfully with coworkers and clients, and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines, and perform the duties of the position.
