Principal Software Quality Assurance Engineer

About This Role:

The Principal Software Quality Assurance Engineer will join a highly effective product quality team, working side-by-side with developers in an Agile environment, providing technical guidelines to product test teams, working closely with managers, test leads, and engineers globally by developing test cases for a wide range of software components, including user interface, algorithms, and back-end data handling.

The position will also include writing or updating test cases, manual execution of tests, and interacting with a variety of electronic equipment in the lab. Besides manual testing, the candidate would be involved in executing tests in automation. Our tools include Squish, Qt, Jira, Bitbucket, Jama, Jenkins, and knowledge of Linux environments and workstations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design, develop and execute test cases to ensure the quality of the product by proving system functionality, verifying business and user requirements are met in Electrophysiology domain area.
  2. Acting as test lead for projects in determining test methodology, test strategy and test data setup.
  3. Design and develop innovative test automation tools.
  4. Leading technical strategies for test automation teams.
  5. Execute automated test scripts.
  6. Ensure that tests have been conducted in accordance with written procedures.
  7. Enhance the test automation framework and debug issues discovered in Jenkins builds.
  8. Plan the new test cases development for various software releases.
  9. Document test results and write test reports.
  10. Provide technical guidelines, share knowledge, and demonstrate product areas to other team members on an ad hoc basis.
  11. Work closely with the software development team, hardware engineering team, field support team, and other cross-functional teams.
Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree along with 7+ years of software test engineer or related experience or 5+ years with a master's degree or advanced degree, preferably BS/MS in Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or equivalent.
  2. In-depth knowledge of software development life cycle and test methodology.
  3. Experience with design and development of test automation frameworks.
  4. Strong programming experience is required such as Python, MATLAB, C or C++.
  5. Deep understanding of Linux operating system.
  6. Experience with test automation tools such as Squish and knowledge of Qt.
  7. Demonstrated experience executing unit tests, performance tests, static analysis and memory leak analysis.
  8. Experience working in Agile Scrum development environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. A strong product quality and test lead experience preferably in medical device domain.
  2. Experience with ultrasound and other imaging medical devices.
  3. A good learner who can master complex software and quickly adapt to new tools and technologies.
  4. Demonstrated experience communicating both technical and non-technical information across teams and departments.
  5. Follow company policy regarding ISO and FDA documentation and compliance for medical devices.
