Director of Infrastructure and Engineering

Starboard Recruitment is seeking an experienced Director of Infrastructure to lead the development and management of surface infrastructure on a major Canadian mining project.
Key Responsibilities- Project Leadership: Oversee and coordinate all activities related to the engineering, procurement, and construction management of surface infrastructure, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
- Reporting and Governance: Develop and maintain reporting formats and key performance indicators for management, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Engineering and Procurement: Review and approve engineering drawings and specifications, develop strategies for execution, and determine appropriate construction and contracting methods for economic constructability.
- Permitting and Licensing: Interface with Environment, Permitting, and Licensing teams to ensure necessary permits and licenses are identified and tracked for surface infrastructure related activities.
- Decision-Making and Governance: Make informed decisions and address technical clarifications, ensuring governance and oversight of external contractors, including the EPCM.
- Estimates and Budgets: Facilitate, review, and provide feedback on surface infrastructure estimates, budgets, forecasts, and schedules, in collaboration with the EPCM contractor and project teams.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure governance of project area, specifically compliance to project delegations of authority, procedures, and policies, and proactively identify and mitigate risk.
- Education and Experience: Engineering degree or equivalent combination of formal education, training, and experience, with 10+ years of leadership and management experience in the design, procurement, development, and management of remote construction sites in the mining industry.
- Leadership and Management: Efficient and skilled in planning, organization, leadership, management, and administrative processes, with strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain relationships.
- Technical Expertise: Complete knowledge of complex projects with engineering, procurement, construction, jobsite management, and other project-related activities, their interfaces, and interdependencies, with experience in surface infrastructure design and construction.
- Mentorship and Leadership: Ability to mentor project staff and provide area leadership, with a strong understanding of project lifecycle and project controls.
This position will be initially based in the company's Saskatoon office, with some travel required to consultants' offices, and will transition to a site-based position when construction activities are being conducted.
