We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Director to lead our Vehicle Transportation Inspection (VTI) division. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for guiding the Motor Carrier, Vehicle Compliance, Motor Vehicle Inspection, National Safety Code (NSC) Audit, and VTI training division at the Department of Public Works.
Your leadership will play a critical role in increasing the safety of road users and protecting the highway infrastructure of Nova Scotia. You will provide strategic direction and vision for the VTI divisions, forging partnerships and relationships with senior government officials, industry representatives, and jurisdictional partners to enhance and promote harmonization and education in the industry.
You will be responsible for providing technical advice and recommendations on matters related to commercial vehicle, passenger vehicle, and public passenger transportation in Nova Scotia. Your expertise will be essential in building a strong and cohesive team, inspiring innovation and change in the industry, and representing the Province of Nova Scotia's interests on various provincial and federal boards, committees, and national associations.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the VTI division and provide strategic direction and vision
- Forge partnerships and relationships with senior government officials, industry representatives, and jurisdictional partners
- Provide technical advice and recommendations on commercial vehicle, passenger vehicle, and public passenger transportation matters
- Build a strong and cohesive team, inspiring innovation and change in the industry
- Represent the Province of Nova Scotia's interests on various provincial and federal boards, committees, and national associations
We are looking for a candidate with a high degree of diplomacy and an understanding of the needs of the public passenger, passenger, and commercial vehicle industry. You must have progressive leadership experience and be familiar with the various acts and regulations that guide the industry, including the Nova Scotia Motor Vehicle Act, Public Highways Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Motor Carrier Act.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
