Aquatic Animal Care Specialist

The Aquatic Animal Care Specialist plays a vital role in supporting our Marine Life team during the execution of various presentations and exhibits. This position involves the upkeep and maintenance of all habitats and holding areas, as well as performing essential husbandry tasks as required.

Key Responsibilities:

Utilizing foundational knowledge of marine biology, animal husbandry, and enrichment techniques for all species within the Marine Life facility. Assisting in the preparation of our Grandstand and Sets for performances, ensuring all audio setups are complete. Delivering outstanding customer service during shows and facilitating photo opportunities. Supporting our Animal Care team during both private and public animal presentations. Aiding in the maintenance of animal environments, including their diets, water quality, and training. Conducting cleaning and general maintenance of live exhibits, enclosures, tanks, and displays. Performing routine upkeep of quarantine, holding, and other back-of-house service areas. Ensuring touch pools are well-maintained and ready for visitor interaction. Preparing and ensuring timely feeding of all Marine Life animals, both in exhibits and off-exhibit. Carrying out opening and closing procedures as assigned. Overseeing touch pools during operational hours and responding to guest inquiries. Maintaining the cleanliness and overall presentation of all Marine Life facilities. Executing additional tasks as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications:

A strong enthusiasm for aquatic life and a commitment to ongoing learning about Marine Life. Experience with reptiles, fish, and amphibians is highly regarded. A degree in a relevant biological field or prior experience in an animal care role is advantageous. Public speaking and performance experience is beneficial. A proactive, outgoing individual who thrives in a team environment. Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Employment Terms:

This is a full-time role requiring flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. A valid Class 5 driver's license is required, along with a clean 3-year driving record. Candidates must be able to pass a basic security clearance.
