Job Responsibilities
The Retail Security Supervisor plays a crucial role in managing security operations at a prominent shopping center. This position serves as the primary liaison between on-site security personnel and the security programs manager, ensuring the effective implementation of Paladin's security protocols. Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the daily operations of all Paladin staff on-site.
- Mentoring, coaching, and training security personnel.
- Implementing disciplinary measures as necessary.
- Engaging with clients and the designated client manager on a daily basis.
- Conducting interviews and selecting candidates for the site.
- Delivering outstanding customer service and fostering positive relationships with clients, tenants, and visitors.
- Preparing detailed reports, including incident and daily activity reports.
- Monitoring for security breaches, safety hazards, and emergency situations, and coordinating with emergency responders as needed.
- Promoting team morale through effective communication.
- Providing first aid and medical assistance when necessary.
- Conducting regular patrols to ensure the security of personnel, facilities, and equipment.
- Utilizing communication tools to relay site activities.
- Managing crowd control and addressing trespassing issues.
- Upholding the Paladin Occupational Health and Safety program on-site, including conducting risk assessments.
- Taking ownership of the overall success of the site during operational hours.
Core Competencies

- Proficient knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques.

- Capability to make swift decisions while maintaining composure in emergency situations.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of security experience or 1 year in a supervisory role.
- Valid security license.
- Valid OFA Level 1 or higher certification.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Physical fitness to walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform well under pressure with minimal supervision.
- High level of professionalism and maturity.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Associate's Degree.
- Bachelor's Degree.
Certification Requirements
- Valid BC Security License.
- OFA Level 1 certification.
