POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Manager of 2-East Medicine and Telemetry, the selected candidate will be tasked with evaluating, planning, implementing, and assessing nursing care and practice activities within a multidisciplinary, family-centered care framework.

You will be responsible for delivering care to a diverse patient population with general medicine and acute cardiac conditions.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Proficient in performing CPR at a basic Cardiac Life Support level.
  • Completion of a Coronary Care 1 course from an accredited institution, or willingness to complete the course within 3 months of employment.
  • Health Assessment course from a recognized institution or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of 1 year of current medical/surgical or coronary care nursing experience.
  • Must successfully complete the in-house arrhythmia quiz within 6 weeks after finishing the Coronary Care 1 course.
  • Proven ability to provide patient education and communicate expected outcomes and care plans.
  • Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, capable of performing well in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families, staff, and the community.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Capability to fulfill the essential duties of the position.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory performance record.

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

Employment terms and conditions are governed by the Collective Agreement between the Hospital and the Ontario Nurses Association (RN Bargaining Unit Local 051).

Successful external candidates must provide a satisfactory Criminal Investigation Reference for the vulnerable sector, dated within the past six months.
