KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Delivers expert clinical guidance to enhance patient care delivery.
  • Provides leadership in clinical education, documentation, projects, and committees within the scope of expertise.
  • Facilitates advanced training for skills and certifications beyond standard practice expectations (e.g., ACLS, Coronary Care).
  • Leads and advises on the creation of corporate and program-specific educational initiatives, including orientation and ongoing education.
  • Designs and implements both intra- and interprofessional educational programs.
  • Develops accessible educational resources to encourage staff participation.
  • Employs diverse adult learning methodologies and assessment techniques aligned with desired learning outcomes.
  • Bases all practice, educational, and leadership activities on the best available evidence (e.g., practice projects, educational sessions, policy/procedure development).
  • Engages in recruitment activities.
  • Encourages staff involvement in personal and professional development.
  • Assists management with staff performance evaluations as needed.
  • Conducts clinical practice assessments and identifies educational support for performance challenges and learning gaps.
  • Consults on and/or formulates performance enhancement plans with staff as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with human resources, occupational health, and management to ensure a safe workplace.
REQUIREMENTS:

  • Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario;
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Education;
  • Completion of Critical Care Certificate;
  • Master's degree strongly preferred, or evidence of progress towards it;
  • Current BCLS & ACLS; instructor status for ACLS is advantageous.
*Expertise in Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy is beneficial:
  • Critical Care Canadian Nurses Association Certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a clinical/practical setting;
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge in adult education, including program planning, development, and evaluation;
  • Proven experience in program planning and evaluation, along with managing organizational change initiatives;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Effective leadership and collaboration abilities;
  • Demonstrated critical thinking, prioritization, and conflict resolution skills;
  • Willingness to travel between various locations;
  • Adherence to confidentiality standards;
  • Must have a satisfactory performance record;

  • Understanding and commitment to comprehensive safety programs and practices, including participation in regular in-service education.
