Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Communications Specialist to join our team at Kinark Child and Family Services. As a key member of our communications team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective communications strategies to support our organization's goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Communications Strategies: Create and execute communications plans to promote our organization's programs and services, and to engage with our stakeholders.
  • Write and Edit Content: Prepare engaging content for a variety of audiences and communications channels, including reports, newsletters, and social media.
  • Manage Communications Projects: Oversee the development and implementation of communications projects, including event planning, media relations, and crisis communications.
  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Work closely with internal stakeholders, including program staff, management, and external stakeholders, including media, community groups, and government agencies.
  • Provide Communications Support: Provide communications support to program staff, including developing communications materials, and providing guidance on communications best practices.
Requirements
  • Education: A minimum of three-year College level diploma in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of corporate communications experience in fast-paced, dynamic, and demanding environments.
  • Skills: Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to prepare engaging content for a variety of audiences and communications channels. Experience working in project teams to deliver on communications plans and strategies. Ability to work efficiently with Microsoft Office tools, Adobe Creative Suite, and other design tools. High degree of collaboration and the ability to influence to achieve program/project objectives while protecting/enhancing the organizational brand. Ability to work flexibly to tight deadlines, under pressure, as part of a team. Ability to multi-task and have good organizational and time management skills. Sound judgement, discretion, and decision-making ability. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability and experience to work across all levels.
