Position Overview:
The Oncology Care Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive cancer care to patients throughout their treatment journey. This includes assessment, intervention, administration of therapies, care coordination, and follow-up in an outpatient environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and provide necessary interventions.
- Administer treatments and medications while adhering to safety protocols.
- Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Engage in patient and family education to enhance understanding of treatment processes.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety training when handling cytotoxic and hazardous substances.
Qualifications:
Essential Requirements:
- Active registration with the relevant nursing regulatory body.
- Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
- Familiarity with the ethical standards and scope of practice for registered nurses.
- Proficient in using computer systems and software applications.
- Eligibility to work legally in the country.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
- A minimum of three years' experience in medical/surgical or outpatient care settings.
- Knowledge and experience in oncology nursing.
- Experience with electronic health records.
- Ability to communicate in French is an asset.
Additional Assets:
- Experience in wound care management.
- Familiarity with radiation therapy protocols.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and leadership.
