Position Overview

Holcim, a leader in the construction materials industry, is actively seeking qualified candidates for the role of a full-time seasonal Heavy Equipment Operator within our grading team. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of various machinery. Reporting directly to the Foreperson, you will ensure that all equipment is inspected, maintained, and operated efficiently. We are currently in need of operators for skid-steers, rollers, and graders.

Our company prides itself on providing a safe work environment, competitive compensation starting at $33-$34/hr based on qualifications and experience, and opportunities for professional growth. Our operations span across various construction projects, and we value our team of approximately 25 dedicated staff members.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate heavy machinery in accordance with project specifications.
  • Conduct thorough pre-operation inspections to verify equipment functionality, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks, including lubrication, fueling, and cleaning to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Follow detailed project plans and specifications to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Excavate, grade, and level construction sites and roadways using heavy machinery to prepare for subsequent construction activities.
  • Load and unload materials and equipment safely, adhering to weight distribution and safety protocols.
  • Operate machinery with precision, following safety guidelines to minimize risks and damages.
  • Collaborate with project managers and team members to coordinate work schedules and ensure project timelines are met.
  • Monitor environmental conditions and adjust operations as necessary to maintain safety and productivity.
  • Keep accurate records of daily operations, including equipment usage and maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-production environment.
  • Extensive experience operating various types of heavy machinery with a solid understanding of their functions.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting project plans and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of safety protocols related to heavy equipment operation.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity to operate machinery for extended periods in diverse weather conditions.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment issues and perform minor repairs.
  • Effective communication skills for coordinating with team members and following instructions.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate and efficient task completion.
  • Flexibility to adapt to different project environments and changing priorities.
  • Proven reliability and strong work ethic, demonstrating commitment to project objectives.
  • Willingness to work overtime and shifts as required.
