About the Teaching and Learning Centre of InnovationThe Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation (TLCI) at Olds College is dedicated to supporting students, faculty, and staff in their academic and professional pursuits. Our team provides a range of services, including accessibility support, learning commons, educational development, and research and scholarly activity.

The Opportunity: Learning Coach, Intercultural and English Language SpecialistWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Coach, Intercultural and English Language Specialist to join our team at Olds College. This is a critical role that contributes to our commitment to academic excellence and student success.
Key Responsibilities- Collect, organize, and analyze information about learners to advise students towards academic achievements.
- Provide individual academic coaching tailored to specific student needs.
- Manage, coordinate, communicate, and assess appropriate student support strategies.
- Assist with writing and presentation skills.
- Design and facilitate college skills group sessions to support academic success.
- Deliver relevant supplemental English language skills bridging.
- Develop close working relationships with leadership, faculty, staff, and the Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation team.
- Research and remain current with relevant scholarly information on student learning and success.
- Actively promote inclusive practices that reflect the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all students.
- Contribute to various college working groups specific to student success and international student experience.
- Collaborate with TLCI Educational Developers on curricular initiatives to enhance student experience.
- Include remote and satellite campus students in support initiatives.
- Develop resources to support student academic success.
- A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a related discipline (Education, International Relations, Social Sciences, Counseling).
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience within the field.
- Experience working with international students and supporting English as an additional language.
- International experience (having lived, worked, or studied abroad) and proficiency in a second language.
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of EAL pedagogy.
- High emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to exercise judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and maintain confidentiality.
- Proven ability to foster effective partnerships.
- Demonstrated skills in group facilitation and communication.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Proficiency with technology such as Google Apps for Education, Google Drive, and learning management platforms.
