Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be responsible for executing the essential duties of a Registered Nurse within the Emergency/ICU Float Pool Department.
The Registered Nurse (RN) will be accountable for delivering both general and specialized nursing care, addressing the needs of patients in the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit. This role requires functioning as a Critical Care Float Nurse, adhering to the Practice Standards set forth by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and the approved care standards of the organization.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- 1-2 years of recent experience in Emergency Room and/or Intensive Care Unit (preference for candidates with experience in both areas)
- ACLS certification and relevant experience
- BCLS certification
- Familiarity with arterial and central line maintenance (preferred)
- Current CTAS training/certification (preferred)
- CTAS Triage Certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Medical Directives certification (preferred) or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Completion of Critical Care Certificate (preferred) or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire
- IV Therapy initiation and maintenance (Parenteral Therapy)
- Experience in a critical care environment (preferred)
- Experience with mechanical ventilation (preferred)
- Trauma Management course (TNCC) or equivalent (preferred)
- Coronary Care course – Level 1 (required) or Level 2 (preferred)
- Pediatric experience (preferred)
- PALS or ENPC course (preferred)
- Emergency Room training (asset)
- Ability to work independently under medical directives
- Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced setting
- Strong customer service orientation
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Robust organizational skills with the ability to prioritize care and adapt to fluctuating patient acuity
- Demonstrated critical thinking and decision-making abilities
- Acceptable performance and attendance records
Compensation:
