We are currently seeking a skilled legal professional for a 12-month maternity leave coverage within our legal department. We are looking for an exceptional legal expert to join a dynamic, diverse, and impactful legal team at Jace Holdings. As a vital member of the team, you will assess, interpret, and convey legal requirements effectively to our business and external partners.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver a comprehensive range of legal services on matters in which Jace Holdings may be involved to achieve organizational objectives and mitigate legal risks;
  • Provide legal guidance to business leaders and other employees in Operations, including related real estate transactions (leasing, acquisition, disposition);
  • Manage the resolution of complex, sensitive, and sometimes ambiguous legal matters, typically involving business risks;
  • Advise the organization on legal matters affecting the business, including drafting and negotiating various agreements with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts for vendors and suppliers;
  • Oversee certain legal proceedings involving Jace Holdings, either directly or through external counsel, including management and oversight of outside legal representation;
  • Support paralegals and administrative staff on specific tasks and provide daily guidance.
Qualifications:
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities;
  • Comfortable in a corporate environment and confident in interactions with all organizational levels;
  • Proficient in collaborating with external legal counsel;
  • Proactive in offering ideas, advice, and solutions regarding legal challenges;
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and situational judgment capabilities;
  • Effective relationship management skills;
  • Able to connect with individuals at all levels, both within and outside the organization;
  • Capable of working independently while contributing to a team environment;
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in private practice and/or in-house roles in commercial law;
  • Proven track record in managing a wide array of legal issues and closely collaborating with business leaders;
  • Experience in franchise law is advantageous;
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Nova Scotia (or other Canadian provincial bar).
