Position Overview: Reporting directly to the VP of Legal & Corporate Affairs, we are in search of a Legal Counsel to deliver comprehensive legal and regulatory guidance across various business functions. This role encompasses:

  • Conducting thorough contract reviews and managing vendor relationships.
  • Negotiating and interpreting agreements while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Providing support and strategic direction to the VP of Legal & Corporate Affairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the legal review process for vendor management, collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the vendor lifecycle.
  • Conduct legal research on pertinent issues affecting the business, in partnership with the Director of Government Relations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with management to offer informed legal counsel.
  • Keep the Chief Legal Officer informed of legal challenges and opportunities.
  • Advise on complex legal matters, tailoring solutions to align with business objectives.
  • Identify and address legal issues, supporting the Director of Legal & Corporate Affairs and Chief Legal Officer in providing innovative solutions.
  • Assist with corporate governance and policy development.
  • Support legal proceedings to protect the company's interests.
  • Provide practical legal opinions across various functional areas as needed.
  • Assist in the maintenance of corporate records and registrations.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2-4 years of experience in a dynamic corporate legal environment.
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, with expertise in relevant legal areas.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills and a proven track record of collaboration across different departments.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other business-related software.
