Reporting directly to the VP of Legal & Corporate Affairs, goeasy is in search of a Corporate Legal Advisor to offer legal and regulatory counsel on a diverse range of issues, such as contract evaluation, vendor oversight, negotiation, interpretation, and ensuring adherence to all relevant laws.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and address the business's requirements in alignment with strategic goals, providing support and triage of matters to the VP, Legal & Corporate Affairs.
  • Oversee legal processes and evaluations related to vendor management, collaborating with cross-functional teams throughout the vendor lifecycle, including selection, onboarding, contract assessment, and approval; enhance vendor management procedures.
  • Direct legal evaluations concerning consumer protection, privacy, and customer resolutions.
  • Conduct legal research on matters affecting the business, in collaboration with the Director of Government Relations.
  • Cultivate a robust and effective working relationship with all levels of Management to provide appropriate guidance, influence, and counsel regarding legal issues.
  • Inform the Chief Legal Officer of any issues, opportunities, and risks related to legal matters that arise.
  • Provide advice on complex legal issues and effectively customize recommendations and solutions to align with business objectives.
  • Identify emerging opportunities and challenges, assisting the Director of Legal & Corporate Affairs and Chief Legal Officer in delivering innovative and business-oriented options and solutions.
  • Support new and existing service offerings, mergers and acquisitions, partnerships, and sponsorship initiatives.
  • Assist the Chief Legal Officer in corporate governance and policy matters.
  • Aid in legal proceedings, whether initiated by or against the company, to protect the company's legitimate interests.
  • Deliver practical and pragmatic legal opinions across various functional areas as necessary.
  • Assist the Legal & Corporate Affairs team in maintaining and managing all corporate records and registrations.
Qualifications
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience, ideally within a dynamic corporate legal environment.
  • A blend of in-house experience supporting financial services and/or a public company is preferred.
  • Membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario, demonstrating expertise in all pertinent legal areas.
  • A strong entrepreneurial mindset, willing to challenge conventional practices.
  • Exceptional relationship-building abilities and a proven track record of engaging with various functional areas.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • A confident and proactive self-starter, adept at taking initiative.
  • Sound judgment and robust decision-making capabilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other business-related software.

We provide a flexible work arrangement that allows for 3 days of in-office work and 2 days of remote work each week.
