Position Summary:
We are seeking an Environmental Coordinator to become a vital part of our dedicated team focused on delivering effective environmental solutions at one of Canada's unique mine sites undergoing active closure. This role is pivotal in ensuring adherence to regulatory standards set by Provincial and Federal legislation, particularly in the realms of site water management and dam oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety protocols and policies.
  • Oversee water management initiatives and daily planning to maintain regulatory compliance; collaborate with operations and maintenance teams for effective field execution.
  • Manage dam operations and monitoring on-site.
  • Assist in maintaining the Environmental Management System.
  • Support waste management efforts, including the handling of contaminated sites, to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives.
  • Supervise external consultants and contract teams.
  • Prepare detailed reports, applications, and submissions for both internal and governmental stakeholders.
  • Foster positive relationships with Indigenous groups and other community stakeholders, ensuring commitments are met.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to five years of experience in environmental management, particularly in water and dam management.
  • Experience in project management, contaminated site remediation, and waste management is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with environmental data management software (GIS/EQuIS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of relevant federal and provincial environmental regulations is beneficial.
