Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Operations Manager to join our team at North Eastern Trucking Inc. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation management and be able to oversee the daily operations of our transportation department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate Daily Operations: Assess the efficiency and effectiveness of our daily transportation operations and identify areas for improvement.
  • Monitor Department Performance: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to ensure our transportation department is meeting its goals and objectives.
  • Plan and Organize Daily Operations: Develop and implement plans to optimize our transportation operations, including scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and goods.
  • Plan for Changes to Schedules and Policies: Develop and implement plans to adapt to changes in schedules and policies, ensuring minimal disruption to our operations.
  • Prepare Reports for Senior Management: Provide regular reports to senior management on the performance of our transportation department, including key metrics and trends.
  • Recruit and Supervise Staff: Recruit, train, and supervise a team of transportation staff, including drivers and dispatchers.
  • Manage Finances or Budget: Oversee the financial management of our transportation department, including budgeting and cost control.
  • Arrange for Shipping Documentation and Tracking: Ensure that all shipping documentation and tracking is accurate and up-to-date, including arranging for customs clearance and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure Transport Compliance with Regulations: Ensure that our transportation operations comply with all relevant regulations, including safety and security regulations.
  • Establish and Implement Policies and Standards: Develop and implement policies and standards for the transportation and storage of goods, including procedures for handling and tracking cargo.
  • Negotiate for Services and Rates: Negotiate with suppliers and service providers to secure the best rates and services for our transportation needs.
  • Oversee Scheduling and Dispatching: Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of vehicles and goods, ensuring that all shipments are delivered on time and in good condition.
  • Oversee Setting of Transportation Service Rates: Oversee the setting of transportation service rates, including monitoring revenue and adjusting rates as needed.
  • Organize and Maintain Inventory: Organize and maintain inventory of goods and supplies, including tracking and monitoring inventory levels.
  • Record Cargo Information: Record and track cargo information, including hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption.

  • Fast-Paced Environment: Work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Work Term: Permanent position with regular working hours.
  • Work Language: English language proficiency required.
  • Hours: 30 hours per week.
