Job Title: Associate Director, Capital Finance

At the British Columbia Institute of Technology, we're committed to putting people at the core of everything we do. As an Associate Director, Capital Finance, you'll play a key role in leading our Financial Services department and providing direction and leadership to our capital asset portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic guidance and leadership to the Financial Services team, ensuring the effective management of our capital assets and projects.
  • Develop and implement capital finance strategies, plans, and policies, working closely with the Financial Controller and other stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and delivery of capital project accounting and financial management functions, ensuring compliance with Institute policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Direct and oversee the development and maintenance of systems to support critical documentation, records, and reporting.
  • Represent Financial Services on internal and external initiatives, committees, and advisory groups, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 8 years' experience in finance and administration, with a leadership role in a similar context.
  • Advanced knowledge of financial and operational management, construction project procurement, and the Capital Asset Management Framework.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to establish and sustain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to direct research, analysis, and development of complex reports.
  • Advanced people leadership skills, with the ability to build and manage teams across diverse functions in a unionized, public sector environment.
