Process Improvement Specialist

Reporting to the Process Manager, this role is essential in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and the application of effective methodologies, particularly lean practices. Collaborating closely with the Business Unit Leader and Maintenance Lead, the focus will be on enhancing production line efficiency and ensuring that all processes are thoroughly documented to promote improvement and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute projects aimed at process enhancement.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and develop actionable plans to address them.
  • Participate as a key member of the line team, managing enhancements to equipment, process parameters, and centerlines on a regular basis.
  • Work in tandem with the maintenance lead and business unit leader to optimize line efficiencies and achieve production objectives.
  • Oversee the transition to new methodologies and practices.
  • Organize and engage in preventive initiatives while raising awareness of value-added production concepts among team members.
  • Analyze waste sources and propose effective improvements.
  • Plan and coordinate various improvement initiatives, including Health & Safety, Total Productive Maintenance, 6S, Six Sigma, and Ishikawa diagrams.
  • Participate actively in T1 and T2 meetings.
  • Document processes and create comprehensive work instructions and specifications.
  • Establish standard processes and tools for managing centerlines and facilitating Rapid Change Over (RCO).
  • Assist in defining daily operational plans and lead priority actions related to processes and systems from identification to completion.
  • Support the team in the ongoing implementation and enhancement of their Daily Management System (DMS) elements.
  • Share best practices and insights with fellow Process Leads.
  • Assist the Production Manager in achieving the mandates of production operations to align with overall business goals.
  • Recommend and expedite system solutions, troubleshooting, and modifications to existing equipment to enhance line operations.
  • Proactively pursue continuous improvement for personal development, staying updated on industry standards.
  • Promote and uphold sound occupational health and safety management, ensuring compliance with company safety standards.
  • Provide resources and technological expertise within the facility.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Educational background in Operations Management or Engineering, or a Bachelor's degree or technologist diploma with relevant experience.
  • Proven experience with various Lean methodologies and tools; Lean certification is a plus.
  • Experience in implementing or participating in change management initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of recognized process management, continuous improvement methods, and problem-solving tools.
  • Exceptional people management skills are essential.
  • Ability to mentor and coach employees effectively.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Results-driven with the capability to motivate a team to achieve high performance.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and process enhancement.
  • Ability to make informed decisions with an innovative mindset.
  • Skilled in training and knowledge transfer.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with SAP is considered an asset.
