We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in providing clinical mental health nursing services to Aboriginal clients in community programs. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will work collaboratively to assess clients' mental status, formulate plans of care, implement planned care, and evaluate outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and deliver educational events to clients and/or families that are culturally sensitive and relevant.
- Function as a primary nursing therapist and case manager, providing diagnostic client assessment and short and long-term individual, group, and family therapy.
- Provide crisis intervention with a focus on outreach throughout the corridor.
- Link clients with acute care hospitals, community mental health and addictions services, Aboriginal community agencies, and primary care services providers.
- Facilitate referrals to mental health programs and services, shelters, residential/housing services, legal services, and other community services.
- Provide consultation and referral assistance to service providers to identify and access appropriate services in the community.
- Document assessments, nursing diagnoses, observations, interventions, patient/family responses, outcomes/evaluations, and referrals according to practice standards and Fraser Health procedures.
We require a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse with a strong background in mental health and substance use treatment. You must have knowledge of Aboriginal cultural practices and beliefs, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with clients, families/caregivers, and the public. A valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage are also required.
