Your Opportunity:

Join a dedicated multidisciplinary team within the Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit at Alberta Health Services. Our acute care team comprises various professionals, including Nurses, Healthcare Aides, Unit Clerks, LPNs, RNs, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Therapy Assistants, and Social Workers, all working collaboratively with patients and their families to provide Patient and Family Centered Care. We cater to individuals generally aged 65 and above, ensuring their comfort and well-being during their hospital stay.

As a Service Worker I, your role will be pivotal in maintaining a supportive environment for our patients. You will assist in various tasks, including meal and fluid support, maintaining cleanliness in our surroundings, managing supplies, and aiding in patient mobility transfers. Our patients appreciate the companionship and support provided by our Service Workers, enhancing their experience in our acute care setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transport patients and equipment across different care areas within the facility.
  • Distribute and restock hospital supplies throughout the units.
  • Clean equipment and patient care areas as directed.
  • Transport lab specimens, blood products, and patient documentation.
  • Report any supply concerns and safety issues to Unit Managers.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Proven professionalism in a work or volunteer environment, with a genuine desire to assist elderly patients and their families.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in food safety, training in patient transfer techniques, experience in a leadership role, and familiarity with the healthcare setting, particularly with the elderly population.
