Job Title: Social Assistance Technician

At the Cree Board of Health and Social Services of James Bay (CBHSSJB), we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Assistance Technician to join our team.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting socially oriented activities in accordance with established techniques and protocols. This includes working with clients to provide support and guidance, as well as collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct assessments and develop plans to support clients in achieving their goals
  • Provide education and support to clients on health and wellness topics
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and techniques
Requirements
  • Diploma of college studies with specialization in Social Work Techniques or Social Assistance Techniques
  • Knowledge of public and community health prevention and promotion approaches, methods, issues, and programming
  • Knowledge of MSSS programs and regulations for first-line services (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Cree culture, social/health issues in Eeyou Istchee (an asset)
  • Knowledge of Eenou/Eeyou Miyupimaatisiiun healing practices and paradigms (an asset)
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work with diverse client populations
  • Fluency in English; fluency in Cree or French is an asset
