Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Darlington Project Controls team in the role of Project & Control Engineer/Officer. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the company's continued growth and success in generating safe, clean, reliable low-cost power in a sustainable manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and facilitate the Front-End Planning Process as a project team member.
  • Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) based on project scope.
  • Create, maintain, and update accurate project schedules.
  • Perform monthly schedule updates and cost analysis.
  • Manage project costs in accordance with OPG's project management governance.
  • Set up and maintain alignment between source systems and project control systems throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Facilitate project metrics reporting and variance analysis.
  • Prepare Risk Management plans with support from other project team members.
  • Develop and issue timely project status reports.
  • Develop and maintain program-level schedules.
  • Process changes through approved change control processes.
  • Prepare and obtain approval of applicable change control documentation.
  • Facilitate and support project financial close-out processes.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of PMO processes and procedures.
  • Assist with development and continuous improvement of the project controls information system.
  • Maintain project files providing an auditable trail throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
  • 4-year university degree, with preference given to engineering, business, or finance.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate and/or Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE) certification is considered an asset.
  • Over 6 years and up to 8 years of experience in project planning, scheduling, risk management, and control services.
  • Clear understanding of project controls principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Advanced user of P6 and EcoSys.
  • Knowledge and solid understanding of organizational units, interrelationships between work groups, external contractors, and consultants involved.
  • Project management experience within a nuclear, hydroelectric, or thermal generating facility.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate well, both verbally and written.
  • Ability to present information clearly and effectively.
  • Comfortable working with various computer systems and software.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
