Position Overview

Support the identification and verification of necessary maintenance tasks, interpret contractual obligations, and coordinate both in-house and subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications. Aid in ensuring that all facets of the contract are managed and executed in a timely, efficient, effective, and profitable manner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that services rendered adhere to established performance standards.
  • Conduct assessments of pavement conditions, signage, guardrails, bridges, vegetation, and other contractual obligations. Assist in the scheduling and coordination of required work.
  • Complete necessary documentation to ensure compliance with contract stipulations.
  • Oversee and enhance the performance of all patrol personnel.
  • Assist in the management, monitoring, and control of highway project assets and materials.
  • Identify potential improvements in work methodologies, processes, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of work reports and timesheets.
  • Procure supplies and maintain an inventory for the designated patrol area.
  • Coordinate and monitor all required training for new hires, as well as ongoing safety and work standard training.
  • Assist with the inspection, calibration, and maintenance of fleet vehicles.
  • Investigate and document all incidents and accidents.
  • Collaborate with management on all incidents resulting in claims.
  • Responsible for creating and updating winter staff schedules to ensure adherence to the Collective Agreement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Basic proficiency in mathematical functions and calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and the ability to calculate proportions, percentages, measurements, area, and circumference).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, and contracts.
  • Capable of presenting information and addressing inquiries from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, utilize resources effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and familiar with internet applications.
  • Effective communication skills with co-workers and subcontractors, with the ability to understand and follow verbal and written safety instructions. Must be able to think clearly and prioritize safety in various work environments.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma (minimum); equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • At least three years of experience in the construction and/or road maintenance sector (preferred).
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (required).

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Experience using manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric tools and equipment.

Work Environment

  • Work will be split between office settings and field environments.
  • While performing job duties, employees may be exposed to various weather conditions, including extreme temperatures. Occasional exposure to wet or humid conditions, high places, and airborne particles may occur. There may also be infrequent exposure to hazardous chemicals, with noise levels typically moderate to high.
