Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security Officer to join our team at McLean Hospital. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This is a part-time position working 16 hours per week, with a focus on evening shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide protective services to people and property, responding to routine and emergency calls for service.
  • Assist with day-to-day operations of the department, including performing daily operational functions as directed by the Security Supervisor or Dispatcher.
  • Respond to emergency, contingency, or disaster situations, and document all incidents after response.
  • Utilize strong customer service skills and community policing philosophies to develop and build strong relationships with the hospital community.
  • Conduct initial investigations into all reports of suspicious activity, persons, hazards or risk, and take the necessary steps to mitigate risk to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Perform access control functions, including ensuring that all employees, vendors, and contractors are in possession of an authorized form of identification.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma required; a strong educational background in criminal justice or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 1-3 years of security or related experience preferred.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Massachusetts Driver's License.
  • Must obtain and maintain required certification in CPR/AED/First Aid, CPI De-Escalation Training, and International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Officer Certification.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, with the ability to interact with people of different levels and cultures.
  • Customer service skills, with the ability to provide a positive and helpful attitude to patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and in teams.
Work Environment

This is a part-time position working 16 hours per week, with a focus on evening shifts. The successful candidate will be required to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
