About the Role

The Recreation Assistant plays a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents by conducting therapeutic and recreational activities that cater to their diverse needs. As a member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will work collaboratively to implement a person-centered Wellness Model of Care that promotes health, wellness, and a safe, empowering environment for residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct therapeutic and recreational activities to meet the diverse needs of residents
  • Collaborate with the therapy team to implement a person-centered Wellness Model of Care
  • Develop and implement recreational programs that promote health, wellness, and socialization
  • Assist with mealtime activities and maintain a safe and clean environment
  • Document and report resident progress and participate in professional development

Requirements

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Completion of a recognized recreation therapy aide certificate or diploma, minimum 12-month program
  • Current Food Safe Certificate
  • First Aid Certificate sufficient to meet Licensing requirements (minimum 8 hours of class time)
  • A minimum of one year of experience implementing recreation programs in residential care

Your keen awareness of safety measures and ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team are essential for this role.
