GHD is seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Designer to contribute to our expanding Canadian Operations.

This role demands a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in civil design utilizing Civil3D within the rail, station, and transportation sectors, encompassing multi-modal corridors (LRT/BRT). The Senior Civil Designer will collaborate closely with a diverse team of professionals, including regional leads across Ontario, Canada, North America, and GHD's global network.

Work alongside a dynamic and high-performance team, this role offers a diverse range of tasks and will involve:

  • Preparing civil drawings and details from initial concept to final design in a 3D modeling environment like Civil 3D, adhering to established standards and procedures for various sites, including linear utility modeling, site grading, site servicing plan modeling/design, road and rail corridor design and modeling, and transit stations.
  • Driving design phases and enforcing design standards on complex rail, transit, and linear infrastructure projects.
  • Reviewing and creating models and drawings in collaboration with Engineers to develop detailed drawings, quantities, and other supporting documents.
  • Engaging in different procurement strategies like Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build environments to advance civil design packages.
  • Mentoring and supervising junior and developing Technicians.
  • Following the BIM Execution Plan and BIM project requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Offering support and training to junior and developing Techs on Civil 3D and project BIM standards and procedures.
  • Ensuring compliance with GHD BIM standards and procedures at the project level.
  • Providing input on BIM scope, schedule, and budget when necessary.
  • Conducting quantity take-offs.
  • Producing consistent, high-quality civil deliverables.
  • Communicating regularly with civil leads, designers, and project team members to ensure effective and timely flow of project information to meet deadlines.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of best practices for BIM within the civil design team.
