Our employees are driven by a shared mission to enhance the lives of Canadians, making a meaningful impact in our communities, including our own workplace culture.

The Finance Division at Tangerine Bank is chiefly tasked with the collection and presentation of financial data for both internal and external stakeholders, adhering to relevant standards. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the origins, processes, and justifications for all entries recorded in the general ledger, ensuring that financial data is accurately represented and reconciled with pertinent sources. The incumbent will collaborate with various departments or service providers as needed to investigate and resolve discrepancies, reporting directly to the Reconciliation Manager.

Is this position suitable for you? In this role, you will be responsible for:

  1. Conducting analysis of assigned general ledger accounts.
  2. Providing explanations for variances in assigned general ledger accounts.
  3. Reconciling general ledger accounts associated with the Bank's product offerings (e.g., credit cards, loyalty balances, mutual funds, overdraft accounts, deposits) and ensuring timely identification and resolution of all reconciling items.
  4. Reconciling general ledger accounts linked to the Bank's operational activities (e.g., payroll, fixed assets, stock-based compensation, leases, foreign currency accounting) and ensuring timely identification and resolution of all reconciling items.
  5. Investigating, following up, and resolving reconciliation issues across multiple channels and various vendors and systems.
  6. Coordinating activities with external vendors and staff from other departments to address and resolve issues.
  7. Ensuring compliance with SOX requirements concerning the assigned general ledger accounts.
  8. Assisting in responding to external audit inquiries and preparing requested materials for auditors.
  9. Identifying and initiating process enhancements to minimize manual efforts while maintaining accuracy and controls.
  10. Performing other duties as assigned.

Do you possess the skills necessary for success? We would be pleased to consider you if you have:

  1. A minimum of 2 years of reconciliation experience.
  2. Experience with retail banking products, particularly credit cards with loyalty programs, overdraft accounts, and deposits.
  3. Completion of a financial accounting designation is advantageous (Canadian or international).
  4. An understanding of IFRS requirements.
  5. A strong grasp of all banking products, including but not limited to mortgages, investments, mutual funds, credit cards, overdraft accounts, and retail deposits.
  6. A systematic approach to problem-solving.
  7. Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and Access.
  8. A proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize competing demands.
  9. The capability to meet tight deadlines successfully.
  10. Logical, clear, and organized thinking.
  11. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
