Position Overview : As a Cleaner within the BGIS SCS Team, your primary responsibility will be to maintain cleanliness in a designated area, with a strong focus on quality assurance, health and safety, and exceeding client expectations.

Key Duties: As an integral member of the operational team, reporting to the Manager/Supervisor, the Cleaner will be tasked with the following responsibilities:

  • Maintain floors through sweeping, mopping, or vacuuming.
  • Sweep the exterior perimeter of the facility.
  • Dispose of waste materials properly.
  • Transport refuse from designated points to disposal bins or compactors.
  • Clean and store equipment and machinery utilized.
  • Replenish cleaning supplies as necessary.
  • Adhere to proper dilution procedures for cleaning agents.
  • Conduct low and high dusting, surface wiping, glass cleaning, and restroom sanitation as required.
  • Inform supervisors of any major repair needs.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management based on facility requirements (such as cleaning appliances or operating dishwashers).

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in various cleaning, housekeeping, and maintenance tasks within an institutional environment.
  • Familiarity with floor maintenance equipment, cleaning tools, materials, and solutions.
  • Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and relevant provisions applicable to this role, including WHMIS.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster cooperative relationships with colleagues, clients, and the public.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as required, including in multiple locations.
  • Capability to follow both verbal and written instructions, and maintain manual and electronic records.
