Position Overview:
As the Finance Manager at Seed & Stone, you will oversee all financial operations, including accounting, payroll, and budgeting. You will serve as the Finance Lead, ensuring accurate financial reporting and analysis. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Corporate Development and Strategy, you will manage the financial reporting function and provide insights to enhance financial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all financial operations, including comprehensive accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Ensure timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting processes, including Accounts Payable.
  • Implement strategies to control and reduce Accounts Receivable.
  • Develop and maintain the annual operating budget.
  • Monitor and manage payroll processes.
  • Forecast and manage cash flow effectively.
  • Update and administer the company's financial policies as necessary.
  • Facilitate monthly meetings with the executive team to align on financial goals.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and fiscal obligations as mandated by regulatory agencies.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of and adhere to all departmental policies and standards.

Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory, financial, and tax compliance with all applicable laws.
  • Manage workers' compensation and commercial insurance policies.
  • Oversee safety-related programs and personnel policies.
  • Collaborate with external accountants to ensure timely completion of annual tax returns.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance culture and supporting professional development.
  • Engage professionally with all staff, executives, and community members.
  • Undertake additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience in a similar capacity.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred; CPA designation or equivalent is required.
  • Familiarity with the Cannabis industry is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards of performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, and operational processes.
  • Ability to work independently while promoting teamwork.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Proven leadership skills with a high level of energy and motivation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience with computer-based accounting systems; knowledge of point-of-sale systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks Online is beneficial.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in British Columbia, Canada.
