Role Overview:

As a Home Care Support Specialist, you will implement personalized care plans designed to enhance the autonomy of our clients. Your responsibilities will encompass assisting with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, grooming, and physical exercise.

The individuals receiving care are primarily seniors who wish to maintain their independence at home. You may also assist younger adults and children. Care is provided in shifts of 2 hours or more, and you should be prepared to travel throughout the Greater Toronto Area, potentially visiting multiple locations during your shifts.

Compensation: $21.93 per hour

Position Type:

  • Opportunity for full-time hours
  • Shifts lasting 2 hours or more
  • Traveling throughout the Greater Toronto Area is required

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing care to clients in their homes.
  • Assisting with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene and basic care.
  • Monitoring and reporting any changes in the client's condition to the appropriate personnel.
  • Supporting clients with additional tasks such as meal preparation, laundry, and light housekeeping.
  • Engaging clients in customized activities.
  • Accompanying seniors to appointments or grocery shopping (transportation will be arranged).

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized Personal Support Worker program, Health Care Aide Program, or Internationally Educated Nurse certification.
  • Certification in Level 1 First Aid, CPR / AED.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Capability to walk, sit, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to bend, reach, and lift as necessary.
  • Capacity to carry and transport items of various sizes up to 25 lbs.
  • Recent experience in geriatrics, long-term care, or home services is essential.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to engage and support seniors effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, resilience, and adaptability to changing priorities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues independently.
  • Commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Ownership of a smartphone.
  • Valid G class driver's license and automobile insurance.
  • Familiarity with resources in the retirement industry is an asset.
  • Availability for a minimum of 10 hours per week.

Covid-19 Precautions:

  • Remote interview process.
  • Personal Protective Equipment provided.
  • Daily screening for both staff and clients.
  • Virtual meetings conducted as necessary.
