The Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre is recognized for its comprehensive Regional Cancer Programs, delivering a wide array of patient care services. This facility is equipped with a robust emergency department, medical and intensive care services, surgical oncology, and advanced diagnostics, serving a diverse population.

Position Overview

In the Oncology Day Services, we provide integrated outpatient care for patients with hematological and oncological conditions. The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering nursing care tailored to meet the needs of patients, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic and evidence-based care.

The Registered Nurse may also represent the Hematology Day Care Unit in various committees focused on clinical, educational, or quality improvement initiatives.

Work Schedule

This is a temporary role with flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Valid Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
  • Advanced oncology nursing credentials, such as Certified Oncology Nurse (CON(C))
  • Relevant educational qualifications in oncology nursing from an accredited institution
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Minimum of one year of experience in transfusion therapy and patient outcome monitoring
  • Recent experience in an acute inpatient setting
  • Proficient in chemotherapy administration and advanced vascular access techniques
  • Chemotherapy Certification is mandatory
  • Experience in administering antineoplastic drugs and apheresis
  • Knowledge of patient care in blood cell transplantation
  • Ability to operate technical equipment relevant to patient care
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Flexibility in work schedule availability
