The Digital Solutions division at JAM Software GmbH is focused on developing and implementing cutting-edge technology that enhances our client experience. We are seeking a Lead Software Engineering Manager to drive innovative technical projects and lead our talented team.
Position Overview:
As the Lead Software Engineering Manager, you will oversee the team’s initiatives, from project planning and requirement gathering to the successful technical execution of solutions. Your leadership will be instrumental in refining processes and guiding a group of skilled technical professionals. You will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and contribute to the development of comprehensive software and hardware solutions.
This role offers a hybrid work environment, with team oversight primarily in Southern Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead team initiatives and provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress.
- Manage a small team of engineers or developers.
- Design and develop innovative software applications to enhance business operations and fulfill client requirements.
- Create software and hardware solutions utilizing various programming languages, emphasizing quality and best practices.
- Define the technology stack and strategic direction for future developments.
- Establish and maintain coding standards and best practices.
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines to ensure timely and secure delivery of solutions.
- Effectively manage your workload in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Facilitate the market introduction of your team’s solutions.
- Support the ongoing evolution of your team’s offerings.
- Ensure that project timelines and deadlines are consistently met.
Technologies You Will Work With:
Source control and pipelines: Bitbucket, Github, Azure DevOps, AWS DevOps
Build and orchestration tools: Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, Artifactory
Development languages: Java, Python, .NET C# and AWS native solutions (Lambda, SQS, SNS, Step Functions)
Infrastructure-as-Code: Terraform
Databases: DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, cloud data stores, Redis, and document databases
Cloud platforms: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- 7+ years of experience in software development or engineering, preferably in new product development.
- 3+ years of experience in managing a technical team.
- Strong understanding of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Source Code Management, and documentation processes.
- Proficient in cloud environments and tools.
- Solid knowledge of DevOps practices with a focus on security and automation.
- Proven experience in developing user interfaces and web applications for public use.
- Experience with IaaS/PaaS/SaaS deployment and operations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Able to thrive in an agile environment, collaborating closely with customers.
- Possess a valid driver's license and willingness to travel within Ontario.
