Job Summary

PCL Construction Management Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Construction Technology and Estimating Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of construction technology and estimating processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Construction Technology:
    • Assist in the creation and maintenance of building information models (BIM) using Revit software.
    • Review and analyze construction drawings and specifications to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Identify and resolve clashes between trade models.
    • Participate in construction site visits to gain hands-on experience and understanding of construction processes.
    • Assist in the editing of PDF files using Bluebeam software.
    • Utilize 3D laser scanning and drone flights to support construction technology specialists.
  • Estimating:
    • Perform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
    • Assist in building estimates by formatting and organizing takeoffs.
    • Review and analyze specifications and drawings to ensure all details are captured.
    • Communicate with trades to discuss scope of work and confirm bidding status.
    • Assist with bid closings and dropping off bids.
    • Participate in construction site visits to gain hands-on experience and understanding of construction processes.
    • Attend pre-bid site visits to gather information for project logistic planning and risk assessment.
    • Set up and update information on Smartbidnet.
    • Review changes to drawings and specifications pre and post tender.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience:
    • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g. construction technology, civil engineering, architecture).
    • Previous experience in construction technology and estimating is an asset.
  • Skills and Knowledge:
    • Strong understanding of construction technology and estimating principles.
    • Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office software.
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
