Job Summary

Meridia Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our team. As a key member of our research and development team, you will be responsible for the execution of all operational and technical aspects of research trials, including site selection, planning, and design of experiments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and prepare field trial layouts, maps, and ensure the availability of materials required for trials in a timely manner.
  • Perform field work, including planting, spraying, irrigating, scouting, harvesting, and grading of field research plots.
  • Crop pest and disease assessment, and soil and tissue sampling.
  • Ensure that data collection is recorded according to pre-established methodology and data is processed and interpreted through adequate statistical analysis.
  • Apply standard quality control procedures to assure accuracy of test results, updating and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Prepare an annual, monthly, weekly, and daily activities schedule to organize time and resources required.
  • Create and manage an annual operational activity plan for the Ag Research program, including people demand forecasting, cost management, purchasing of materials and equipment required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in Agriculture/Crop Science/Plant Genetics/Agronomy is required.
  • Relevant years of experience in Agronomy, Plant Science, or any relevant field is required.
  • Work experience in potato crop is preferred.
  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented, research environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft applications and database programs.
