About the Role

We're seeking a detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant, Surety to join our team. As a key member of our underwriting team, you'll play a crucial role in supporting the underwriting process and ensuring the smooth operation of our surety business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Distribute department correspondence and maintain accurate records.
  • Order reports and references as directed by underwriters and ensure timely completion.
  • Enter data into underwriting and billing systems with precision and accuracy.
  • Prepare and process contract bonds, renewals, riders, and legal documents with attention to detail.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokers and communicate effectively with end-users of surety bonds.
  • Review incoming bonds for compliance, accuracy, and completeness, and respond to surety clerical audits as required.
  • Calculate premiums on new, additional, return, and new business with accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or higher, with up to two years of experience in a related field.
  • Quick and accurate data entry skills, with proficiency in Microsoft software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a strong team spirit.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make decisions and work independently.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage workflow efficiently without continuous supervision.
  • Computer literacy, with the ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
  • Bilingual (French and English) is an asset, as you'll interact with an English-speaking clientele and colleagues across the country.
