Position Overview

We are seeking a Principal Backend Software Developer who is recognized as a trusted advisor and capable contributor by peers, leaders, and stakeholders.

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of software delivery experience
  • B.S. or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Strong understanding of design principles affecting software comprehensibility, maintainability, performance, and availability
  • Experience articulating best practices in systematic software development, including requirements gathering, design, testing, debugging, and maintenance
  • Expertise in writing, analyzing, and debugging code across various programming languages
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities with a solid grasp of data structures and algorithms
  • Understanding of computer networks, protocols, network security, and data transmission
  • Commitment to software privacy and security through secure coding practices and threat mitigation
  • Knowledge of parallel and distributed computing techniques
  • Proven ability to learn new technologies and skills
  • Strong communication skills for engaging with stakeholders, clients, and team members across different time zones
  • Ethical and pragmatic approach to computational theory, considering automation and human involvement
  • Dedication to human-centered, universal design with empathy for user and developer experiences
  • Creative tools and innovative ideas

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with microservices architecture
  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL or other relational databases
  • Leadership experience with development and QA teams
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Background in education, finance, or healthcare sectors is advantageous
  • Active GitHub profile or contributions to open-source projects is a plus
  • Experience in innovative technology development is a plus
