As a Project Manager within this division, you will be responsible for delivering project management and engineering support to guarantee reliable, economical, and efficient city-wide engineering services. Your role will encompass technical reviews and engineering assessments related to the planning, design, and operation of the division's programs and projects.

Comprehensive Project Management Responsibilities
As a Project Manager with the City of Toronto, you will manage a diverse range of engineering projects, guiding project team members to meet deadlines while ensuring effective collaboration, high-quality work standards, and organizational performance. Your responsibilities will include securing necessary engineering permits and approvals, refining project scope, assessing the financial implications of projects, reviewing technical drawings, engineering studies, specifications, plans, and cost estimates, as well as assisting in the preparation of capital and operating budgets.

With this knowledge, you will provide technical advice, conduct reviews, and apply standard engineering principles to support the operation, development, and maintenance of the division's programs, facilities, and equipment. You will also be tasked with preparing engineering analyses and evaluating new systems, work procedures, and technologies that could enhance divisional performance.
Managing Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
As an effective communicator, both verbally and in writing, you will engage with various stakeholders at all organizational levels. Your strong interpersonal skills will enable you to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, colleagues, elected officials, consultants, developers, and other internal and external clients. You will represent the City on committees, contribute to meetings, and liaise with the public and stakeholders regarding projects and developments.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
To excel in the role of Project Manager ECS, you should possess the following qualifications:
- Completion of a post-secondary education degree or diploma in civil and/or municipal engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Significant experience applying engineering principles related to municipal public works infrastructure.
- Project management experience from inception to implementation, including planning, design, and construction of municipal public works infrastructure.
- Experience in client management and effective communication with diverse stakeholders.

- Registration with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) or licensing as a professional engineer in good standing in another Canadian engineering association, with the ability to obtain a P.Eng. license with PEO.
- Ability to plan, supervise, and direct the work of staff.
With this professional background, you will bring a strong understanding of engineering principles and project management as they relate to public works, along with asset management principles, including data collection, analysis, and estimation. You will be adept at interpreting engineering plans and documents, conducting studies, and developing effective solutions to engineering challenges. A valid Province of Ontario Class 'G' Driver's License is also required, enabling you to travel to various sites efficiently. Additionally, you will support the values of the Toronto Public Service, fostering a culture of equity, diversity, and respect in the workplace.
