Job Summary

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Public Health Manager to lead the local public health unit and implement a range of public health programs and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide effective leadership and management of the local public health unit
  • Implement and evaluate public health programs and services
  • Ensure the provision of public health nursing for individuals, families, and community
  • Communicable disease surveillance, prevention, and control within the region
  • Health promotion activities to support the health and wellness of the population
Requirements
  • Undergraduate degree in nursing
  • Minimum of five years' experience in public health nursing
  • Three years' supervisory experience in a healthcare environment
  • Master's degree in nursing, health administration, or quality improvement (asset)
  • Current BCLS and annual recertification
  • Nunavut immunization certification
  • Eligible to register with RNANTNU
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, and Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit
  • Experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment
  • Ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut's official languages
