Collingwood General and Marine Hospital (CGMH) is a 84-bed healthcare facility located in Collingwood, Ontario, serving a diverse population of over 74,000 residents and millions of annual visitors. CGMH is committed to providing acute care services, including emergency care, diagnostic services such as laboratory testing, imaging, and cardio-respiratory therapy, as well as two inpatient units dedicated to medicine and surgery. Additionally, CGMH offers specialized care in areas such as obstetrics, orthopaedics, intensive care, and surgical services. Immunization Requirement:

The Opportunity:

Assist in ensuring a smooth and organized flow of daily operations related to patient admissions, discharges, and transfers, while performing reception and clerical tasks, and requisitioning necessary supplies and services from other departments.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a two-year Medical Office Administration Diploma or equivalent
  • Medical Terminology Certification
  • At least one year of clerical and data entry experience
  • Preferred experience in an Emergency Department setting
  • Familiarity with Meditech systems is advantageous
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong keyboarding and data entry capabilities
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to perform duties with meticulous attention to detail
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
  • Dedication to fostering a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
  • Adherence to the responsibilities outlined in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal; proficiency in additional languages is a plus

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct order entry using the Meditech Expanse computer system when necessary
  • Manage telephone communications related to patient care coordination
  • Arrange patient transport services as needed
  • Organize patient charts and file care documents appropriately
  • Maintain clear communication with the patient care team
  • Execute clerical tasks associated with the daily operations of the Emergency Department
  • Perform additional clerical duties as required
