About Our Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Services Manager to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our department, you will provide sound, timely financial advice to the Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the complexity of client department's expenditure, revenue and capital budgets
  • Accurate reporting of departmental expenditures and monthly forecasts
  • Prepare client department year-end financial audit information as part of government's financial results
  • Provide advice and financial analysis on complex issues
  • Evaluate and improve financial processes with a focus on internal controls and risk management
  • Lead, coach and mentor budget and financial staff with respect to performance management, training and development
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or commerce
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA)
  • Several years of progressive financial management and supervisory experience
  • Strong client service skills and ability to provide timely and accurate financial advice
  • Effective leadership skills with experience developing and coaching staff members
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a complex operating environment and manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
