About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Laboratory Assistant to join our Mobile Lab Services team in Kamloops, BC. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing on-site patient care in various locations, including private homes, commercial facilities, and long-term care facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Organize daily schedules of visits to facilities and private residences to collect specimens as per physicians' requests.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Collect and deliver specimens to designated labs for testing, and access, spin, separate, and prepare for transport to reference labs as required.
  • Book patient appointments, request required information from patients, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure patients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection.
  • Liaise with doctors and facility staff regarding patient problems, changes in scheduling, specimen collection procedures, and other matters.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and access to a vehicle.
  • Satisfactory criminal reference check.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Excellent communication skills to enable you to relate with a wide variety of people.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to think quickly on your feet.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
